Pastor Edward Flowers

–

San Diego, California

Pastor Edward L. Flowers was born on May 18, 1939, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, to Mary Lee Kennard Flowers and Richard Flowers. He was later lovingly raised by his stepfather, Pastor Willie Grant. Pastor Flowers accepted Christ at an early age and devoted his life to teaching and spreading the Gospel wherever he went.

On March 6, 1960, he was united in holy matrimony to Earlean Porter. Their union was blessed with two children, Anthony Maurice Flowers and Phillis Graham. He was also the proud grandfather of James Earl Graham, Michael Graham, and Ausha Graham, and the cherished great-grandfather of Jamison Graham, Joshua Graham, Jasmine Graham, Janelle Graham, and Omari Graham.

Pastor Flowers leaves behind two sisters, Severa Henley and Dot Coleman, and one brother, Richard Flowers. He was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Clifton Grant.

In 1958, Pastor Flowers joined the United States Navy, where he faithfully served his country and retired after 20 years of service. Following his military career, he continued working and later retired twice more, serving as a driver for the Navy and for a shuttle company.

Pastor Flowers faithfully served as the Pastor of Freewill Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years, where he dedicated his life to ministry, leadership, and guiding others in faith.

Pastor Edward L. Flowers lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for others. Through his ministry, military service, and devotion to his family, he touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy. His words, prayers, and guidance will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.

Though he has departed from this earthly life, we rejoice in knowing that he has gone home to be with the Lord. His life reminds us of the power of faith, the importance of service, and the beauty of a life well lived.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time of bereavement.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day."
— 2 Timothy 4:7–8 (KJV)
